My Purpose is to dream, live and share. Dream: Growing up in the townships yet being schooled in an affluent area exposed me to both sides of the coin and gave me the scope to dream big. I have followed those dreams and don’t ever want to stop. Live: I strive to be fully present in my life and to truly live the moment. It’s great to dream, but if you’re always just imagining the future, you’re missing out on the now. Share: Sharing my life with family and friends, and sharing my knowledge and experiences with those it could make a difference to is what motivates me on a daily basis. I have spent most of my career to date in the FMCG sector and also have experience in the pharmaceutical industry. I have over 20 years experience in finance of which ~10 have been in executive leadership roles. I’m currently with Unilever leading the finance organization and contibution to the sustainable growth of brands with purpose in Africa through teams that thrive. I am passionate about leadership, purpose led growth, and the possibilities that this new digital age brings to the finance function. I push myself and my team to learn and grow everyday and believe that anything is possible if you put your mind to it.

As chief financial officer of maverick insurer King Price, I love helping people to save money on their short-term insurance. R150 million, to be exact. And counting. We launched King Price back in 2012 with a clear vision: There had to be a more sensible way of doing insurance. And so, we became the only insurer in South Africa to offer premiums that decrease monthly as car values drop. In my role as CFO, I’ve been privileged to oversee the growth of King Price from a start-up into a 900-person, R4.5 billion company with a growing range of short-term insurance products across the personal, commercial and specialised (community, engineering, agri and marine) spaces.
