The Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) is an agency of the Department of Trade and Industry and a Schedule 3A Public Entity. The CIPC’s primary institutional mandate is derived from the Companies Act, No 71 of 2008, which establishes the CIPC as a juristic person with the following functions: Registration of Companies, Co-operatives and Intellectual Property Rights (trade marks, patents, designs and copyright) and maintenance thereof; Disclosure of Information on its business registers; Promotion of education and awareness of Company and Intellectual Property Law; Promotion of compliance with relevant legislation; Efficient and effective enforcement of relevant legislation; Monitoring compliance with and contraventions of financial reporting standards, and making recommendations thereto to Financial Reporting Standards Council (FRSC); Licensing of Business rescue practitioners; Report, research and advise Minister on matters of national policy relating to company and intellectual property law. The CIPC strives to be an enabler of smart regulation through digitisation. In this regard the CIPC mandated XBRL (eXtensible Business Reporting Language) as mechanism for digital financial reporting.

Where do I park?

Parking for the Sandton Convention Centre (SCC) is available in an adjacent parking arcade with nearly 11,000 bays in Sandton City and Nelson Mandela Square.

Can I use cash for food?

Breakfast, lunches, soft drinks and coffees are available for purchase with a credit card only.

Do you validate parking tickets?

If you have purchased a ticket, you will receive a validated parking ticket. If you have received a free ticket, you do not qualify for validated parking.

Is lunch included?

No, lunch is not included with any ticket type.

How do I ensure I get a seat in some of the most anticipated sessions?

The most popular sessions tend to be over-subscribed, so to secure a seat, be sure to get there early.

Can I transfer my ticket to my colleague if I can no longer attend?

Free tickets are non-transferable. If you are unable to attend, please notify us so we can void your ticket and reissue it.

Is there a VIP section?

No, there will not be a VIP section the common area provides fantastic opportunities for networking.

Does the bar open at lunch time?

The bar will be open from 17:00.

Is there WIFI available?

Sandton Convention Centre provides free public WIFI
